I am excited to talk about Richard joining myself and Claire for a leg of the walk!
Richard also works for the U.S. Forest Service. He has a lot of more experience than Claire or me, and has worked on many different crews. In recent years, he has worked on an engine in the Big Sur area. Unfortunately, I have never had the priviledge of working on a crew with Richard, but none-the-less we became friends, working near by each other.
Richard is a world traveler, and when he sets a goal for himself, he makes it happen. As an example, one day he said, he was going to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef. And in deed he did.
One of his newest future goals is to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro ( the tallest mountain in Africa which is 19,341 feet). In the meantime, when he learned about The Walk, he contacted me pretty fast looking to join for the portion of
from Cambria to the Pacific Valley Forest Service Station in Big Sur.
Richard always has a good story, and always has a fun-loving attitude. I think I have heard more stories about Richard from other people than from the man himself. I'm looking forward to having more time to get to know him now.
