I wanted to have a separate post to sum up the two parties we had in support of the Run for Porridge. I will do my best to thank everyone involved in them. Please forgive me if I missed someone.
Before the run began, three conscientious, hardworking, and motivated girls got a hold of me to share with me their event coordinating company called
. Ali, Mariela, and Jen have been working their own jobs at various places but have also started SLO Benefit all about event planning services. It is their hope that one day, they will be able to plan events full time. And as they should because they are great at it.
Ali, Jen, and Mariela of SLO Benefit
They got a hold of me because they caught wind of A Run for Porridge and wanted to plan a launch party the night before the run began to help raise more money for it.
They did a fantastic job. Many people came and their was plenty of food and drink. There was great music playing, an awesome African dancing group, raffles, and more.
I think the most humbling thing about it is that SLO benefit, nor the DJ ever once tried to market their service though I wouldn't have had a problem with it. Ali from SLO Benefit told me that they wanted all of the focus to be on the fundraiser. That says a lot about Ali, Mariela, and Jen.
So I would like to share their links and other supporters from the party. They helped raise a lot of money, and I'm happy to now be friends as well.
